Quacks like a duck department
[edit]Is this show never referred to as a soap opera? Why, for all the world, not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonygumbrell (talk • contribs) 04:00, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Female Married Names (January 2021)
[edit]My understanding, after participating in debate about spoilers, is that in the CAST section, female characters are to be listed under their maiden name only, so their marriage is not spoiled. For many years this has been the case, but I see now all female characters have all last names listed, which is not how it should be. I would have to find the article but I know for a fact it was agreed nowhere on any media page, not just this one, that marriages of characters are not to be spoiled in the cast sections. I went ahead and removed the married names from female characters in the cast list. Daleylife (talk) 22:31, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- It's my understanding that wikipedia is completely immune to the concept of 'spoilers', as a matter of long standing high ranking policy. 31.51.219.224 (talk) 07:41, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Characters should be listed under their WP:COMMONNAME – if a character was unmarried for the first 5 seasons of a TV series, and married only for, say, the last two seasons, then they should almost certainly be listed under their unmarried maiden name (etc.) as that was the predominant common name over the entire span of the series. In general, I think characters should usually be listed under the predominant name from early in the series – an exception might be a character that was unmarried for a TV show's first season, but then was married for the remainder of the series: in a case like this, you would likely list the character by their married name. (Note: In some cases, characters' common names don't even include their surname(s)...) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 05:11, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Cast tables need to be moved to List of Characters article
[edit]The List of Desperate Housewives characters is in desperate need of a couple of cast tables – one for the main cast, and one for recurring cast. The cast table for 'Main' cast should be moved from this article to List of Characters article, and then a cast table for the 'Recurring' section created there too.
Note that this is in better accordance with MOS:TVCAST as well. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 01:35, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
