- Good work on Ghostbusters. :-) Koyaanis Qatsi
- Hey, thank you very much. -- Arteitle
I had a laugh over your candy bar change. I was telling my wife that you either work for M&M-Mars, or really enjoy your candy bars. haha. That was a very detailed correction and I like it when wrong stuff is fixed. So who are you anyway? put in a bio or something. I did. Dmsar 05:18 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- I suppose I'd fall under the latter. Comes from eating from vending machines while in college. Three Musketeers + caramel = Milky Way, Milky Way + peanuts = Snickers. I'm not sure what purpose an autobio would serve. -- Arteitle 06:08 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
An autobio woudn't serve any purpose. But since when has that inhibited human behavior. If you are private or shy (I'm both which is why i didn't include my month and date of birth) then don't put anything, but at least brag about your cats, dogs, or whatever. haha. But then I'm probably too friendly for my own good. Do as you want. Len.
Michael J. Fox
[edit]Well, since it comes from a Fox-related official organization, I guess I'll let it slide, but it certainly isn't the story that I've heard for years and years. And I note that the exact same wording is used at ImdB, which makes me think it's the same person going around from site to site. RickK 04:15, 11 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I'd guess that someone cut-and-pasted that one sentence from the bio on his foundation's website into the one in the IMDb. I'd certainly trust the content of his foundation's official website over hearsay. -- Arteitle 11:53, 11 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Airplane & Blowing Rock
[edit]Perhaps i was gullible. It may be in the talk page of the Dab or one of the articles linked from it, but somewhere, someone else asserted it convincingly, when i questioned the addition of the sexual slang to, i think, the place-name article. Or it may be on his and my talk pages (or now in my talk archive pages).
It's also on the sexual slang page, based on the same input (but bcz of my desire to get it off its initially prominent place on the Blowing Rock, North Carolina page).
I urge you to edit boldly, since your information (like his!) purports to be more specific than mine.

License
[edit]Hi, could you tell me the license of Image:Cello-1.01a-example.png as we use it on fr: wikipedia, I'd like to know. Thanks in advance. fr:Utilisateur:Tipiac
- Yes, it's a screen capture I took of Cello running on my own computer. I suppose it's in the public domain; I hadn't really thought about it, but I reserve no rights whatsoever to the image. --Arteitle 01:47, Jun 29, 2004 (UTC)
TV Naming conventions.
[edit]At some point in the past you expressed an opinion on Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (television). I have instigated a new poll on that page. I am hoping that this poll will properly allow all users who have an interest in the subject to express their views fairly before we come to a consensus. I have scrapped the poll that was previously in place on that page because I believe that it was part of an unfair procedure that was going against the majority view. I am appealing to all users who contribute to that page to approve my actions. I would appreciate it if you could take the time and trouble to read the page carefully and express an opinion and vote as you see fit. Mintguy (T) 16:53, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Re: Ship Names
[edit]Why?
Well, becuase I wanted to, since all the other Trek pages are all like that...
Plus...what you did, didn't really make sense... you deleted the periods (...'s) from "USS" and "SS" in the ship names from "WNMHGB", and didn't in "The Cage"... you just un-italised U.S.S. but left the periods.
I suggest If you change ONE Star Trek page, then I suggest going and changing EVERY Star Trek page and do the same thing, delete all the periods from USS. Start with the List of Star Trek TOS episodes and go through each episode one by one and change them all. After that go through every other Trek" page (including characters, locations, technology, alien races, and starship classes) and do the same thing.
Sounds like a daunting task to me. Have fun.
Re: Re: Ship Names
- More power to ya then, I won't make anymore changes to your corrections. I personally like having "U.S.S." with periods in the name. Since it's written that way on the starship's hulls. To me it's more I dunno "respectful". Just my opinion. Cyberia23 20:20, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Demon vs War dialing
[edit]Hi, I read your comment in Talk:Demon dialing about the confusion in the difference between demon dialing and war dialing, and I agree on your take one it. Specificly that demon dialing is the rapid redialing of a phone number, commonly used to gain access to a often-busy telephone number (such as a popular BBS). Whereas war dialing is dialing a large quantity of phone numbers (typically only once) to determine which ones have modems connected to them.
I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, so I don't feel terribly comfortable at this point making a big change or switch to the pair of articles, War dialing and Demon dialing, such as you suggested. I would however, encourage you to make the change that you mentioned. --Golgo13 15:10, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Good afternoon!
> I was wondering, what's your source for the detail that George Washington Carver > was romantically involved with his assistant, Austin Curtis, Jr.?
I myself had had an opportunity to read about it in a biography about him from our local library. There are a few websites, and even a (registration required) online news article which talk of his assistant (a middle school basic report - http://www.east-buc.k12.ia.us/99_00/PK/gwc.htm ) and that he was gay ( http://www.nndb.com/people/582/000030492/ ), ( http://www.paulsgaystamps.com/The%20Victorian%20Age/The_Victorian_Age_Page_12.htm ) ( http://andrejkoymasky.com/liv/fam/bioc1/carv3.html ) etc. Thanks for asking!

Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
Well, I guess we have to see if the anonymous IP contributor takes the opportunity to discuss on the talk page. In any case, the protection will probably be removed in a day or two. -- Curps 18:46, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Fair Use
[edit]How is it not fair use is the question. The image has been about on the Internet for years; it's quite famous in the STvSW community. If copyright violation was a problem, dozens of site owners would have been sued before now.
And regardless, there were no edits to WP:CP on November 26th. I checked the edit history very carefully before I made that particular claim. Therefore, it could not have been listed there on the 26th, because nothing was. Rogue 9 04:54, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Naming conventions for television shows (again)
[edit]I saw that you were active in the first vote for naming conventions of television program(mes). Well it has raised it's ugly head again and I would appreciate any comments you have to make about my new proposal for naming television shows. Please leave comments here. Thanks! --Reflex Reaction (talk)• 21:42, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
WGOHGB
[edit]Hi. Someone just apparently decided to rename the episode "Where No One Has Gone Before (TNG episode) to "Where None Have Gone Before". This has been reverted, but I spotted it also quoted Data as saying "Where none have gone before". I noticed you added this. Can you confirm whether you added this from the episode in question, or from the shooting script on the internet, (which has the wrong "None" episode title, and thus I wouldn't trust). [edit]Non-free use disputed for Image:RizgarAmin.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:RizgarAmin.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:56, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:MainPage-QuarterdeckMosaic2.02.012-Arteitle.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:MainPage-QuarterdeckMosaic2.02.012-Arteitle.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:43, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Aeonfluxdvd.jpg

Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Tiptoety talk 06:45, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
