M'alayah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The M'alayah (Arabic: معلايه or معلاية / ALA-LC: ma‘alāyah) is a popular Arab dancing art that is performed at weddings. It is centered in northern Oman, the northeast of the United Arab Emirates, and North Africa. The M'alayah dance is based on rapid movements of certain parts of the body: mainly the waist, and the dance is usually harmonised with local popular folk songs.[1]
