User:Jguk/admin criterion
Appearance
Jguk has only one criterion on whether he supports or opposes a request for admin status (though he will oppose if a user meeting that criterion has a recent pattern of acting disruptively - my "sense test override").
The criterion is:
The candidate must have helped get at least one article up to featured article status.
The reasons for this criterion included:
- User has demonstrated they know this is an encyclopaedia
- User must have contributed to the Wikipedia namespace
- User will have had to liaise constructively with other Wikipedians (either in preparing the article, or in dealing with oppose votes)
- To write a featured article, the user would have had to be familiar with the featured article criteria and our standards - any user will take some time to pick this up
- Sets a clear goal of how to get my support for adminship (subject to the sense test override)
- Whilst featured articles aren't the be-all-and-end-all of Wikipedia, to create one means you have to show lots of qualities that are desirable in an admin.
- We have loads of admins anyway, so we can afford to be picky.
Note:This is my personal test. Other users have other tests. I am not proposing that it becomes policy, and others are welcome to follow it or not follow it as they wish.
