[edit]I removed the following suggestion from the page to here:
The history could be split up in Ancient times, Priestly times, Saudelaur times, Nahmwarki times, and the time of Foreigners.

Cthulhu Mythos Link
[edit]hey you guys, ive heard stories from some friends and stuff, and they said that the Stories of Cthulhu Originated on this Island. well, is there any evidence of this?
- No, Cthulhu and the Cthulhu mythos were purely inventions of H. P. Lovecraft. However, in The Shadow over Innsmouth Lovecraft mentions the ruins on Ponape (this city) as containing Elder Signs used to repel the Deep Ones. Vultur (talk) 02:45, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the following text from the article:
Nan Madol is identified with R'lyeh, the sunken city in which Cthulhu reputedly lies, "Dead, but dreaming" in H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu" [1]
While Necronomicon Gnosis does say that, it is anonymous and generally non-credible. What is more, a quick check of "The Call of Cthulhu" [1] at Wikisource shows that the location of R'lyeh is specifically given in the story as "S. Latitude 47° 9', W. Longitude 126° 43'", almost 10,000 kilometers from Nan Madol. --John Cowan (talk) 21:00, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Nan Madol in the movies
[edit]There is some mention of Nan Madol as being remnants of Lemuria in the movie "Beyond Lemuria" which is available on Amazon. Though brief, Nandauwas is clearly shown in the video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.41.47 (talk) 18:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
History of archaeology?
[edit]What seems to be missing is the "discovery" of the ruins by Western explorers and the history of the archaeological investigations. Can anyone add anything on this? (Emperor (talk) 03:40, 20 December 2009 (UTC))

Location map
[edit]I think it would be good to add a map of Nan Madol in relation to Pohnpei island next to the location map of FSM. 93.136.199.101 (talk) 00:12, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
YouTube video as a credible source?
[edit]In the section discussing the age of the site there is a sentence stating that:
"[Graham Hancock's documentary] made false claims about the age of the site".
The source included for this statement is a YouTube video entitled: 'I watched Graham Hancock's documentary so you don't have to'. How is this a credible source? 49.183.31.145 (talk) 04:59, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- It was too kind to Hancock to just link that, so I've added text with sources from the "documentary" and removed the link. It's a great youtube site but not what we need. Doug Weller talk 11:20, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
