Although this page has nothing yet about fuses/fuzes as used to detonate explosives, I want to check one thing before I start redirecting and/or writing: Would I be right in thinking that this kind of fuze is spelled "fuze" much more than "fuse", while electrical ones are more often "fuse"? And is this something that differs in non-USA English, so that we might need to have a single page with a redirect, instead of two pages with links to each other? -- John Owens 07:01 May 5, 2003 (UTC)
- yup. electrical fuse; bomb fuse (Br) fuze (Am). We might as well take advatange of the difference to have two pages (but with links between in case of confusion) -- Tarquin 08:00 May 5, 2003 (UTC)
- Apparently that idea has been found wanting, as Fuze is now a redirect to Fuse. (I support the redirect, despite the appeal of the original clever idea, because between the two dialects and the two distinct senses, the match-up between sense and spelling is too weak to achieve the clarity originally imagined.)
- But on the other hand, the detonator sense and the circuit-protector sense are distinct enough that IMO this page should become a dab. (The spellings, which may assist readers occasionally in judging which sense is involved, should still be disucssed here.) I don't propose to do it for a few days, for lack of a proper mouse, so that offers a chance for anyone who thinks a dab is a problem to speak up. --Jerzy(t) 03:02, 2004 Apr 3 (UTC)
- What about Fuse, the TV channel?
