huh???

[edit]

Just something for whoever edits this article to chew on:

Why on earth is this article still a stub?

Great and goofy. Would a 0-0 tie also be a shutout?

---Yes. Walter Johnson had several shutouts that weren't wins.

A pitcher who enters a game in relief with none out in the first inning can be credited with a shutout if he gets out of the inning with no one scoring and finishes the game with no further scoring. (Unless they changed that rule somewhere along the way. A pitcher could have more shutouts than complete games.) WHPratt (talk) 17:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)WHPratt[reply]

"team itself can be said to have “shutout” the opposing team." Shouldn't this be two words? Danchall (talk) 12:33, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rugby

[edit]

The term 'nilled' was used of New Zealand's win over Australia. It is the equivalent of 'shut-out', I don't know whether it is applied to sports other than rugby league though.GordyB 13:29, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bizarrely, a few minutes after writing that, I heard the term used by a Scottish commentator who was commentating on the rugby union sevens in New Zealand.GordyB15:04, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Boucher-Leighton

[edit]

This play off year, Phillidelphia Flyers Goalie Brian Boucher was injured, and Micheal Leighton had to come in. The game was a shutout. Should this not be attributed to the "double shutout" section for Ice Hockey? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.55.49.181 (talk) 06:48, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
