Etymology

[edit]

Hi all!

I recently added a whole bunch of indigenous names to the beginning of the article. It got me thinking that it may be useful to add an /*Etymology*/ section--there's certainly a lot going on with the names, both those that are indigenous and those that are English/Spanish (for example: Spaniard explorers originally called the peaks Sierra sin Agua before friars named it Sierra de San Francisco). I may go about and start the section myself, but I'd really appreciate some help/pointers/tips with it if anyone is interested (I've never written a section before!). Do let me know.

Hiker Deaths?

[edit]

There is a sentence about sudden weather changes bringing death to unprepared hikers on the Peaks. While it can get cold on the mountain during a monsoon storm, sudden large temperature swings are not that common and storms are easy to see coming in. Unlike Cascade volcanoes, this is not a particularly large mountain or one that requires much skill or time. I highly doubt there has every been a death due to hypothermia without extenuating circumstances. I think we need a source for this or the section should be removed.

Where's the "Geology"?

[edit]

How come no geology or geological history?

Just curious. 2600:8800:785:1300:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 22:09, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
