Selecting the next Cinema Collaboration of the week
[edit]Every two weeks a Cinema Collaboration of the Week will be picked using this page.
The goal of this project is to improve the Wikipedia's coverage of film-related articles.
The aim of each collaboration is to take an undeveloped or underdeveloped film-related topic and improve it over the course of two weeks. At the end of each two week period, the topic with the most support votes will be selected as the next collaboration.
For guidelines on the correct format of film related articles, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Films.
Voting
[edit]A vote or a show of support for an article shows your commitment to support and aid in collaborating on that specific article if it is chosen. Although you are not required to fulfill that commitment, we ask that you only support articles that you are able to contribute to so that this collaboration's goals of expanding and improving articles can adequately be achieved.
Any registered user is encouraged to vote. Feel free to vote for as many of the candidates as you like.
Please add only support votes. Opposing votes will not affect the result, as the winner is simply the one with the most support votes (see Approval voting).
To enter your votes, simply edit the appropriate sections by just inserting a new line with "# ~~~~". This will add your username and a time stamp in a new numbered list item.
This user is a former participant in the Cinema Collaboration of the Week. |
If you are a regular participant in the collaboration, you may want to put the following template on your user page with {{User Cinema COTW}}:
Tie-breakers
[edit]In case of a tie, voting will be extended for 24 hours. If there is still a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. During the extended voting period the old collaboration should still be active. In the case of extended voting, the collaboration period will be reduced to 13 days.
Pruning
[edit]Nominations will be moved to /Removed if it has not received the required number of votes within the standard time. If a candidate has no vote, its nominator may withdraw their nomination. Feel free to perform pruning that meets the above criteria. It is permissible to renominate an article that was pruned at a later date.
Qualifying topics
[edit]What qualifies as a film-related topic for the purposes of this project? Any of the following:
- A film
- A film character
- A period in film history (e.g., Silent film)
- A film movement
- A film festival or award
- A national cinematic tradition
For inspiration, see List of film-related topics.
Collaborating
[edit]Once a new COTW has been selected, placing a todo template on the talk page is a good way to make sure everyone is clear on what the article needs to improve. Simply place {{todo}} at the top of the talk page and save it. Then click the edit link in the todo box and start adding things. If the preloaded text is too confusing, simply delete it all and treat it as you normally would (eg using # or * to make lists).
The best way to determine what needs to be done is to use the style page as a checklist. One can also use the automated peer review tool to populate the todo list. Any disputes or matters of priority should be discussed on the article's talk page in an effort to prevent or resolve edit wars.
How to nominate an article
[edit]If there are any articles that you would like to see improved, add them to the candidates below. Note: Please place the full name of the article (the page name) in the heading when you post a candidate. Priority should be given for articles that are non-existent or stubs, though important and often looked-at topics in need of overhaul are also eligible.
To nominate an article
[edit]To add a new nomination, please:
- (1) Copy the template below
- (2) Paste it at the bottom of the list of nominations
- (3) Replace "[Date]" with the correct date and "[Date of current collaboration's end]" with the date of the current collaboration's end. For both, the year is not necessary.
- (4) Sign your user name with the directions in the template and add a comment for why the article should be nominated.
- (5) Please preview your addition to make it sure all information is properly filled in and the links are working.
After nominating an article please place {{Cinema COTW candidate}} on the article's discussion page.

- This is a very influential comedy that helped pioneer the "gross-out" comedy that became very popular in the 1990s and continues on in this decade. I think that will a little more input this article could be greatly improved. --J.D. 18:46, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Very important film. It deserves more attention. James Luftan contribs 22:50, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Widely considered among the best and funniest movies ever made. Influenced a slew of knockoffs and ripoffs even until this day. Several of the actors and filmmakers went on to have big careers after this. --GHcool 01:23, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

- The Terminator is of Top importance in this Wikiproject, and currently needs a lot of improvement. The article has no references whatsoever, and needs general expansion and improvement. Although the release is covered, the section is very brief and the film's reception is not covered. This film is one of the best films of the past 25 years, and this collaboration will help the article become great as well - • The Giant Puffin • 18:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Comments: An influential character from an influential film. The article on Leatherface is in a sad state of underdevelopment and is in dire need of expansion. There are so many things that need to be done to this article in order for it to reach its maximum potential with major rewrites, and addition of information (these are just a few things that need to occur in order for this article to be expanded). I have already created a draft for the purpose of expanding and revising the old article which I will include the link to it here Hopefully we can get some pros in on this to expand the article to its full potential.
