[edit]Should this page not be called "Grampian TV", to accurately reflect the company's broadcast name?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.252.128.15 (talk) 14:59, 15 January 2005 (UTC)
- No, the "grampian tv" from the SMG branding is a recent invention. It was always known, on- and off-screen, as "Grampian Television". Chris 19:38, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Just to avoid possible confusion, I've created a redirect from Grampian TV to Grampian Television (and the same for Scottish TV). Vclaw 21:02, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Actually as an ex Sound Supe at GTV the sepulchral "this is Brian from Sound" which struck fear and terror into links and presenters - worldwide - I can let you into a little secret..... the staff always called it "GrumpyTV" ... but it really wasn't.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Brian Moffat (talk • contribs) 23:27, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
History
[edit]The article is fine as far as it goes but it could benefit from a history section to cover the years before it was taken over and lost its identity. -- Derek Ross | Talk 19:28, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Lochaber
[edit]Fort William did used to receive Grampian from Mounteagle in the days when Band III television was transmitted from there. Grampian never had any coverage on the West coast so a piped system was installed by one of the local television dealers to feed part of Fort William . Some local politicians did once make some noise about feeding the area with Grampian after the move to 625 lines but they did not understand the technicalities. --jmb (talk) 01:58, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Proposed move from Grampian Television to STV North
[edit]I understand why people would want an article on STV North and I see nothing wrong with creating such an article. However this article is about the historical entity, Grampian Television. It makes no sense to rename it STV North just because STV bought the Grampian assets in 1997 and now broadcasts as STV North in the area that Grampian used to. It would make sense to split out the small amount of post-1997 content specific to STV North and move it to a new article. That makes much more sense than renaming the current article.
I already brought this up last time that Nocrowx made this suggestion and got no response. So I'm surprised that Nocrowx would now go ahead without further discussion and make the move. -- Derek Ross | Talk 05:30, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Proposed name?
[edit]I read somewhere that one name originally proposed for Grampian Television was "Scottish Highlands and Islands Television". Can anyone verify? This is not mentioned in this article.Inkan1969 (talk) 16:53, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Oppose. This article is about the historic entity, Grampian Television, not the modern entity, STV North. Anyone who wishes to start an article about STV North is free to do so and can move material concerning STV North from this article to the new one. -- Derek Ross | Talk 02:47, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

Article Name Change to "STV North"
[edit]The name of this article is outdated and should be named STV North instead of Grampian Television. Lou1112 (talk) 17:35, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- We have been here before and it was decided that page along with Scottish Television would stay as is for the history of each company up to 2006. From 2006 onwards the history is part of this page: STV_(TV_channel)--Crazyseiko (talk) 17:42, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
