Template:Dynamic list is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. If the proposal is uncontroversial or has been discussed and is supported by consensus, editors may use {{edit template-protected}} to notify an administrator or template editor to make the requested edit. Usually, any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes or categories.

Any contributor may edit the template's sandbox. Functionality of the template can be checked using test cases.

Add new parameter "template" boolean so that when also used multiple it says "This template documentation contains multiple lists" rather than "This article", so I can use this template in a template documentation.

@Jonesey95 @Uni3993, what is an example of a time that a template would have multiple lists? The idea of a list is really a concept for articles, so I don't think it's a good idea to expand the functionality beyond that, as it's not what this template is designed for. (Also, if we were to implement, we'd want to use {{SUBJECTSPACE formatted}} rather than a parameter.) {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 16:30, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Sdkb Template:Fallacies Think about the documentation for this template, it contains multiple dynamic lists of fallacies propositional, quantificational, equivocation etc. These fallacies are in no way complete, they are only well-know ones, therefore they are dynamic lists. I was just implementing a good-faith request that looked harmless. I have no opinion on whether the change should be kept. The fundamental point is that navboxes are not dynamic lists, because a dynamic list is a type of article. Navboxes are navboxes, with a totally different context. Trying to get this template to handle both would stretch it way beyond its intended purpose, resulting in problems both now and in the future that we don't want to have to deal with. {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 18:30, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The word "Dynamic list" is a section link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists#Incomplete lists. It's probably supposed to link to #Dynamic lists. Snowmanonahoe (talk) 20:44, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
