hi! welcome to wikipedia. in the future, you can leave me messages on User talk:Kingturtle. The page you are asking about is called Wikipedia:Naming conventions. Other pages that might be of interest are: Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines and Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Keep up the good work! Kingturtle 00:31 1 Jun 2003 (UTC)
How come the portable stove article mentions nothing about pumping up the pressure in the stove with the little rod pump thing? Rmhermen 16:45 2 Jun 2003 (UTC)
^ That bar right above this, done as "----" in Wikicode, is represented by a <hr> in HTML. It just looks to weird to talk of "removing a ----", so I say "removing hr" or whatever instead. It doesn't belong between an article and its external links, it's generally used for separating different meanings of a word. And different conversations within a talk page, of course. ;) -- John Owens 00:11 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Same way as with any other article title, make a link like [[eagle (disambiguation)]] (though it looks pretter as [[eagle (disambiguation)|eagle]], compare eagle (disambiguation) and eagle), and if there's no article there yet, it'll give you a link to edit the page and start it up. For instance, hypothetical article that (I hope) doesn't exist yet, bogusarticle (disambiguation). There's an article about disambiguation somewhere, but as slow as the Wikipedia is being right now, I don't have time to find it; I'll try to get the link to you later. -- John Owens 00:22 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
- P.S. BTW, I'm leaving now, so you should find someone else for any further questions if you want a quick answer.
- P.P.S. Wikipedia:Disambiguation, that's what I was looking for. John Owens 04:22 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
- And to follow up to your later question, you would go to Dion, click on "Move this page" in the sidebar, and enter "Dion (disambiguation)". It's just like a regular move, as described at Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page, but with the parenthetical disambiguation phrase included. -- John Owens 04:27 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Concerning your question as to why I removed your note to other contributors: That's what the Talk pages are for. And welcome, by the way. :) -- Zoe
