Inuit and Snowsoes

"Inuit did not use their snowshoes much since they did most of their foot travel in winter over sea ice or on the tundra, where snow does not pile up deeply."

The reasoning given here seems incorrect. Snow of course does pile up on sea ice and tundra. The ringed seal e.g. builds caves in snow on top of sea ice in order to reproduce and is threatened by the loss of this habitat due to human cause climate change, mainly due to the continued burning of fossil fuels. 118.148.101.216 (talk) 02:47, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

IMO the current text sounds plausible and useful and I don't see where your argument really refutes that. Nevertheless, if it challenged, it need sourcing to remain. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 02:55, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

@Daniel Case: Are you saying that this changes it to being a copy of Encyclopedia Britannica? If so, that's a copy vio and we can't do that. North8000 (talk) 22:13, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Read the note just under the footnotes at the bottom of the page: That was copied from the 1911 Britannica; the original text is thus in the public domain and no copyvio is possible. Daniel Case (talk) 22:49, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
